~Election 2006~

The general election 2006 is a hot topic these days. As far as I know, Singapore has always been a good country. I believe in them having a good government system. That itself has brought Singapore up this such high standards. 6 May has been a big day for this election. Even though I am still a 16 year-old boy and a foreigner, I believe that the election is good, and so far I always believed that the PAP is a great party. For that, I am quite sure that they will win the election again. PAP is a clean party. They has been doing well for the government and therefore, benefiting the Singapore citizens. I am aware that there are other opposition parties that want to take over PAP. In my opinion, whichever party that going to take over the government has to do something for the benefit of foreing students. For years, keeping up with Singapore's education tax and fees has been heavy for foreign students. I always hoped that in the near future, school fees is reduced and that, these foreign students who do well in their studies also granted an Edusave. I believe that by doing so, singapore's economy revenue will increase and it will be able to improve Singapore's status as an Education-hub. If I am granted a vote, I still thinks PAP works the best as they are a clean, uncorrupted party, loaded with experiences on leading the country to make Singapore until today.

~When a kid's stress becomes distress~

I understand about being too stressed up because of studying, especially like studying in Singapore. Students get so stressed up because of the high level of competition within the class. Achieving good grades are definitely important. But does it worth it? I mean, we come to school to study, to gain knowledge. It has completely got nothing to do with competing for good grades or getting first in class.

Parents sometimes just don't get how their child feels. All they know is just nag and scold their children for poor results. This caused the children to feel even more stressful. Instead, parents should help their children, either by encouraging them or even treating them with little surprises. This will definitely encourage them to work harder for better results. Parents should never compare results with their classmates, siblings or even relatives. In another hand, they should encourage them to work harder and not to lose hope.

It is never fair for those students who are less inclined in studying. They usually performed badly in class. Therefore, they tend to be mocked by their peers, or even looked down upon by other parents. To solve this problem, parents should encourage their children to do what they do best. Some of these students have extra-ordinary talent, not academically, but in other aspects. Such as, Kok Pin in the movie 'I Not Stupid' being talented in portrait painting. Therefore, allowing them to have a sense of satisfaction.

It is normally fine for students to study in EM3. It is just how the parents think that being in EM3, it means a failure. To me, personally, there is no difference with the streaming classes. It is the speed on how fast the teachers teach the students in class. EM1 class will be definitely be the fastest of all, and it is because of these that the students wants to race to get into the top position.

Ultimately, parents want their children to be the top-student or being the cleverer ones in the school is nothing but for fame and glory, so that later on, they have something to show off to their friends. Children did not go tot school to become famous, but to gain knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, parents should not pressurize their children too much, but has to guide the child along so that they can have an easier time studying. Regardless of whether it is in the EM1, EM2 or EM3 streams.

>> MEASURES AGAINST THE BIRD-FLU <<

I may not agree on the articles that mentions about protecting yourselves against the H5N1 flu virus, but, it is agreeable that we need to be as healthy as we can in order to protect ourselves against the deadly virus.

Yes it is true that being healthy is the best way to defend against the bird-flu, however, without the hard work of the government in taking the measures to eradicate the pandemic, even the healthiest person on earth will soon die due to this virus. In fact, the government plays the most important part to end the disaster.

From stocking up the amount of vaccines and medicines to clearing and sterilisizing the infected chickens, it is all government's job. Educating the people about the amount of harm it can do to human beings also under the government's job, yet all this is not being mentioned in the articles, except for the uses of Tamiflu.

Therefore, in conclusion, I could not agree on the articles because it is actually the cooperation of the people and the government that can efficiently end the bird-flu outbreak. Only then, the nation will be safe.

Castle is a gigantic mansion, a very huge house where king and queen lives. It is built around the prvious century and the main purpose is to safe-guard the two of them. The castle is usually protected with hard, concrete walls, armoured with artillery weapons and was surrounded with deep, muddy, predator-infested forests. Some of them even have their own ditch which surrounds the entire castle. Thus, it is only accessible by draw-bridge which was heavily guarded by soldiers. The castle has watch towers which has archers in it and it covers almost every corner of the castle and it serves as main defence to the castle. The castle has barracks to train the different classes of soldiers, and stables which kept horses for the knights- peoples who are trained to ride on horse-backs and go for war and defend the castle. Servants also sleep in the castle. The purpose of having them in the castle is to keep the entire castle clean, besides that, their job is also to clean the horse so they are in good condition. Castle is the biggest asset to the king and the queen as it is the stronghold to the whole empire. So, in conclusion, the castle is the home for the king and queen's son and daughter for the rest of the generation, or until it was taken away by the enemy or by the authorities.

--[DREAM]--

Everyone has a dream, a dream that one day may eventually come true. People pursuit their dreams to achieve what is best for them. To me, a dream to be a billiard professional is something that are possible but, due to some circumstances, it is impossible. That is why sometimes Man has to let go of their dream and wake up into reality. Take me for example, my dad restricts me from my practices because he believes that a business course and becoming a businessman like him is more important to me than becoming a professional. Life is hard and full of obstacle which has to be avoided. Thus, for me it is a waste of time to think about my dream because it is has been planned for me all along. And that is how life is-a dream that never comes to you even though you longed for it.

Mural competition [The Approval]

To tell you the truth, I am so glad when Mr. Ong come to me to tell me that my proposal for the Mural Competition was accepted by the principal and the vice-principal. That day, which i think was a Friday, I have to talk to Mrs. Oh about my proposal. It was a good experience because it was my first time talking to a principal one-on-one and receives praises from her.
The team would not have reached here without a strong team members which consisted of Stella, Jasmine, Shenny, Hwee Ing, Sonia, Olivia and me. And ultimately, I have to thank Mr. Ong for his full support and the help he done to us.
One more time, I have to shout thank you to my members and some friends who have helped me, to make this thing happen...THANK YOU!

Firstly, what comes to my mind when evaluating the drame that took place yesterday is that I learn to overcome my fear in front of the audiences. Its hard to concentrate and stay focused when you are on stage, unless you are already get used to it. Even though i went up the stage for performance before, this my first time doing a drama, so I did feel a bit nervous backstage. To me, I think I did a good job on that day, but there is always a room for me to improve myself.
We spent a lot of hours and days just to practice the drama, even before the Chinese New Year Celebration. It was a great waste for me because I am not able to spend the great time together practicing as I was away for that particular week.
Anyway, besides the stage fright I encountered and the importance of teamwork in this so called "drama production" is crucial, I learnt another important lesson as well. I should always play hard when it is time for playing and I should not joke around when the matter are serious, as what Mr. Ong said to me.
In conclusion, even though my role is just an "ambulance", I think the whole drama was a success, many people comes to me and say that the act was good, the storyline was interesting and that our drama is the most memorable compared to the other four which was done by other classes.
